Settings

Goal: Find any setting, know what it does and what it was out of the box.

Open Settings (pad 16, labelled Setup on the MODE map). The categories are listed in the order below. Turn the encoder to move, press it to open or change a row, and click the power button to go back. Most changes apply at once and are saved.

Defaults are what a new CrossPad starts with. A row marked “info” only shows something. On this page, rows few players need are folded under Advanced in each category; on the CrossPad they sit in the same list as the others.

How to install: Updates.

The backup files go to the top folder of the SD card.

  1. Open Settings → Backup (SD). Under All settings, press Export.

You should see: the message Settings exported to SD. The card now holds crosspad-settings.json.

  2. To restore, press Import under All settings.

You should see: the message Settings imported. Brightness, volumes, pad tuning and the rest change to the saved values at once.

Pad tuning only works the same way with crosspad-pads.json. Its messages are Pad tuning exported to SD and Pad tuning imported.

A backup copied off the card (see Your sounds) is also a way to move your settings to another CrossPad.

  1. Open Settings → System. Under Maintenance, press Factory Reset.

You should see: the message Settings reset to defaults. The screen brightness, volumes and theme go back to the defaults on this page.

What it resets: the Display, Audio, Pads & LEDs, Vibration, MIDI, Analog / Velocity (including your per-pad tuning), System, BLE MIDI and WiFi settings, the saved WiFi networks, the Updates settings and the link to your crosspad.app account.

What it keeps: the USB settings (Mode, Ask before USB serial, Recording Source, DAW Output dB), Motion MIDI, and everything on the SD card — kits, recordings, arrangements, firmware packages and settings backups.
